Butler, a leader in delivering exceptional signage projects, recently completed a comprehensive signage overhaul for Bohunt Farnborough, the newest addition to the Bohunt Education Trust. The project focused on improving wayfinding, enhancing entrance impact, and ensuring brand consistency, resulting in significantly improved navigation and a visually cohesive environment for staff, students, and visitors.
Bohunt Farnborough is a secondary school within the Bohunt Education Trust, a multi-academy trust. As part of their rebranding efforts, the school faced challenges with outdated signage that hindered wayfinding and failed to make a strong visual impact. The objective was to create a signage solution that would address these issues, making the school environment more navigable and visually appealing.

Strategy and Planning
Our approach began with a thorough consultation and needs assessment to understand Bohunt Farnborough’s requirements. We emphasised simplicity in our design, using the school’s brand colours (blue and black) and brand font.
We chose white text on a black background for optimal legibility. This strategic design plan ensured that all signage would be clear, consistent, and visually aligned with the school’s rebranding efforts.
Design, Materials, and Implementation
Aluminium Totems
To improve external wayfinding, we designed aluminium totems that were strategically placed at key locations around the campus. These totems were powder coated for durability and featured printed & laminated vinyl graphics.
During installation, our team coordinated closely with the school to place these totems without disrupting daily activities. Each totem was securely mounted, with the internal steel frame set into the ground.
Black Acrylic Panels
For clear wayfinding, we used black acrylic panels to label blocks and classrooms. The simplicity of the black acrylic with white text ensured maximum legibility and a sleek, professional look.
Our team ensured that each panel was placed at optimal heights and locations for easy visibility, providing clear directions to students, staff, and visitors.
Main Entrance Sign
A large post-mounted aluminium sign was designed for the main entrance to create a strong visual impact. The aluminium was powder coated for a clean finish and featured the school’s branding with vinyl graphics.
Our installation team ensured the sign was positioned prominently to be visible to all incoming visitors, enhancing the school’s first impression.
Built-Up Stainless Steel School Logo
To further enhance the school’s branding, we produced a large built-up stainless steel logo, which was powder coated and finished with vinyl graphics for the school crest. This logo was installed at height, where it could be easily seen by anyone approaching the school.

The new signage greatly improved wayfinding for staff, students, and visitors. The clear, cohesive design enhanced the school’s visual appeal and ensured consistent branding across the campus.
