Frozen Castle Prop
Butler, a leader in bespoke event signage and furniture, has a long-standing relationship with Superbooths Europe. This started as a result of a referral from a similar entertainment company.
Over the years, we have demonstrated our ability to design and manufacture unique, bespoke event furniture.
One such project that showcases our approach to bespoke events was the Frozen Castle Prop. The project involved creating a replica of the Frozen Castle from the popular movie, Frozen, for a Superbooths Europe event.
Design & Production
3D Design
With such a unique project the first step was to digitally design the unit. This called for 3D work to make sure everything fitted correctly and to achieve a realistic preview of what the finished product would look like.
Using SketchUp Pro we could create a 3D digital model that allowed for easy alterations before any materials were even cut.
CNC Cutting
The cutting list was produced from the SketchUp model, and the CNC machine was used to cut all the acrylic pieces.
The computer-controlled process was extremely accurate, providing a perfect finish and intricate shaping.
Flame Polishing
To give the acrylic edges a glass-like finish, we used a flame polishing technique.
This process was done with an oxyhydrogen torch, a small, controlled, high-intensity flame, which created a smooth and crystal clear finish.
Edge Lighting
To give the Frozen Castle Prop a magical, glowing finish, we used an RGB LED system. The MDF base was channelled to allow the insetting of the LED modules, and the acrylic panels were set into the same channel above the LEDs to give the edge illumination.
Supplied with a remote control, the client had complete control over the colour. The lighting gave the prop a real wow factor!
Tint & Graphics
To achieve the “Frozen” icy blue look, we applied a semi-transparent blue tint to the acrylic walls. The vinyl had a crystal structure that further enhanced the reflection of the LED illumination. To complete the replica Frozen Castle, we printed a castle scene featuring Elsa and Anna and applied it internally to the rear wall.
Flat Pack
The Frozen Castle Prop was designed as a flat-pack, making it easy to assemble and disassemble, and allowing for secure storage. The prop can be used at multiple events, making it a versatile and cost-effective solution.
