Opentext's Office Signage Overhaul

The Brief

Micro Focus’ Newbury HQ, following its acquisition by OpenText in a monumental $5.8 billion deal, required a signage transformation to reflect the scale and significance of this corporate evolution.

Butler was tasked with creating a premium signage solution that would seamlessly integrate OpenText’s identity into the fabric of the office space.

“Clear and impactful entrance signage was essential to brand the building unmistakably.”

Grand Entrance Signage

Requirement:

Clear and impactful entrance signage was essential to guide traffic from all directions, with a large exterior sign to brand the building unmistakably.

Solution:

A pair of large aluminium totems, strategically positioned on either side of the entrance, became the focal point. Powder coated in the distinctive OpenText white, these totems featured a logo crafted from flat cut acrylic, adding depth to the sign’s face. The contrast of black acrylic against the white aluminium ensured legibility.

For nighttime visibility, a built up, face-illuminated logo was specified, mounted on an aluminium frame to conceal wiring, ensuring that the office remained visible from the road even after dark.

Attention Grabbing External Signage

Requirement:

Facing a busy A road at the rear of the HQ, a sign was needed to capture the attention of passing traffic.

Solution:

A 5m wide aluminium sign tray, installed at height (base of the third floor), served as the solution.

Built-up, face-illuminated letters were mounted to the tray, with black perforated vinyl applied to the letter faces.

In daylight, they appear black, but when illuminated, they transform to a striking white, a dynamic and attention-grabbing effect.

Complete Corporate Wayfinding

Requirement:

The existing wayfinding signage needed a comprehensive overhaul to align with the new brand identity.

Solution:

A cohesive set of wayfinding elements was designed, all in OpenText white with black text.

This included window vinyl, ACM panels, and post-mounted aluminium panels strategically placed for different locations.

The result was a harmonious and efficient wayfinding system that seamlessly integrated with the overall signage scheme.

The Result

The completed project stands as a testament to Butler’s commitment to excellence and Over Delivery as Standard.

The entrance to the OpenText office now exudes a corporate identity that is both striking and sophisticated, visible day and night. The rear signage captures the attention of passing traffic, turning heads with its dynamic play of light and shadow. The wayfinding system ensures a seamless navigation experience for employees and visitors alike.
